harry potter and the deathly hallows
1. Voldemort and the Death Eaters gather at the Malfoy Mansion to plot the capture of Harry Potter, as the magical protection afforded by the death of his mother wears off after he reaches seventeen. Pius Thicknesse of the Ministry of Magic is under the imperious curse, and Death Eater control. Voldemort tortures Hogwarts teacher Charity Burbage for encouraging closer relations with muggles. Snape reveals the Order of the Phoenix's plan to transport Harry Potter to a protected location, and Voldemort takes Lucius Malfoy's wand.
2. Harry packs for his departure from Privet Lane. The Daily Prophet carries a memorium for Albus Dumbledore, which reveals new details about his childhood. Reeter Skeeter is interviewed about her biography about Dumbledore which contains some dubious 'revelations'.
3. The Dursleys leave Privet Lane to go into hiding as the Order of the Phoenix fears Voldemort may torture them to get information about Harry. Dudley thanks Harry for saving his life.
4. The Order of the Phoenix arrives at Privet Lane. Mad-Eye Moody reveals a plan to create seven decoy Harry Potters. Harry leaves with Hagrid in the sidecar of his flying motorbike. Death Eaters are waiting for them, and Hedwig is killed as Hagrid and Harry escape. Harry battles Voldemort, and his wand takes control, shooting gold sparks and destroying Malfoy's wand.
5. Having made it safely to Tonk's parents' house, Harry and Hagrid take a portkey to the Weasley's. George has lost his ear in the battle and Mad-Eye Moody is dead.
6. All at the burrow are preparing for Bill and Fleur's wedding. Harry, Ron and Hermione meet to discuss plans for finding the remaining Horcruxes.
7. Harry turns seventeen. Scrimgeour crashes his birthday party and gives them their bequests from Dumbledore's will, excepting the sword of Godric Gryffindor, promised to Harry - as this, Scrimgeour says, was not Dumbledore's to give. Harry receives a snitch, Hermione a book, and Ron a magical instrument called a Deluminator, which can turn off any light.
8. Bill and Fleur are married. Disguised as a Weasley cousin, Harry hears more rumours and revelations from Dumbledore's past. Kingsley Shacklebolt sends a patronus, which announces that the ministry has fallen. Scrimgeour is dead.
9. Harry, Ron and Hermione escape a Death Eater attack and arrive in central London. They escape a Death Eater attack at a late night café, and head to Grimmauld Place.
10. Harry, Ron and Hermione discover who "RAB" is - Sirius's brother. Kreacher reveals his part in the planting of Voldemort's locket horcrux, and his part in retrieving it, and placing a copy. Kreacher is sent after Mundungus Fletcher to retrieve the real locket.
11. Lupin arrives. Harry calls him a coward for not staying with his pregnant wife, Tonks. The Daily Prophet reveals that Pius Thicknesse is the new Minister for Magic. The Muggle Born Register is set up. Kreacher returns with Mundungus, who reveals that Dolores Umbridge now has the locket.
12. Snape is confirmed as the new headmaster at Hogwarts. Harry, Ron and Hermione sneak into the ministry in disguise, aiming to retrieve the locket.
13. Harry, Ron and Hermione stun Umbridge and replace the locket with the copy. They get the mudbloods who are being questioned in the ministry out, and head back to Grimmauld place.
14. Harry, Ron and Hermione are followed by Yaxley, blowing the protection of Grimmauld Place. They escape to a forest and set up camp. Voldemort probes the mind of foreign wandmaker, Gregorovitch, and sees that what he was seeking has been stolen by a young, good-looking man.
15. The trio overhear a couple of wizards and goblins who are on the run. They reveal that the Gryffindor sword Snape has stashed in Gringotts is a fake. The strain of carrying the locket horcrux gets to Ron, and after an argument he leaves Harry and Hermione.
16. Disguised as muggles, Harry and Hermione go to Godric's Hollow, and find the graves of Harry's parents. It is Christmas Eve.
17. Harry and Hermione discover James and Lily Potter's house, standing as a monument to their tragedy. There they meet Bathilda Bagshot who takes them to her cottage, where she takes Harry upstairs alone. Suddenly she turns into Nagiri, Voldemort's snake, which was occupying her body. Harry fights back, joined by Hermione and they narrowly escape Voldemort. Harry's wand is broken in two.
18. Harry and Hermione read through a copy of Rita Skeeter's Life and Lies of Albus Dumledore. Harry is distraught to discover that in his youth Dumbledore was a close friend of Grindelwald - a dark wizard he later defeated in duel. At seventeen, the two apparently plotted wizard rule over muggles.
19. A silver doe patronus appears to Harry. He follows it from their new camp site to a frozen pond. At the bottom lies Gryffindor's sword, which can destroy horcruxes. He jumps in to retrieve it, but the locket horcrux, sensing danger, begins to strangle him. Ron saves him, and then destroys the Horcrux with the sword. Ron explains that the Deluminator led him to them.
20. Harry, Ron and Hermione visit Xenophilius Lovegood. Lovegood reveals that the symbol he wore at the wedding, and which appears in Hermione's book from Dumbledore, is the sign of the "Deathly Hallows".
21. Lovegood explains the mystery of the Deathly Hallows, three magical instruments - a cloak of invisibility, a stone that resurrects the dead, and an all-powerful wand. The three together give the bearer power over death. Lovegood is being blackmailed by the Death Eaters who have his daughter Luna, and Harry, Ron and Hermione narrowly escape after he notifies them.
22. Harry becomes obsessed with the Deathly Hallows, which draws him away from the horcrux quest. He forgets himself and used Voldemort's name, which has a taboo placed on it. They are instantly surrounded.
23. The trio are captured and taken to Malfoy Manor and put in the dungeon, where they find a goblin as well as Dean, Ollivander and Luna. Dobby appears and takes these three to Bill and Fleur's cottage. Wormtail is killed by his own hand after betraying Voldemort. After a daring escape Harry finds himself at the cottage with the goblin and Dobby, who dies in front of him, having been stabbed by Bellatrix Lestrange's dagger.
24. Harry asks Griphook the goblin to help him break into Gringotts. Ollivander confirms the existence of the all-powerful "Elder Wand", one of the Deathly Hallows. Voldemort retries the Elder Wand from Dumbledore's tomb at Hogwarts.
25. Griphook agrees to help Harry, in return for Gryffindor's sword. Harry agrees, but is careful not to stipulate when the transfer will take place. Remus Lupin arrives, announcing the birth of his baby boy, Ted, and asks Harry to be the godfather.
26. Harry, Ron, Hermione and Griphook break into the Lestrange vault in Gringotts. Harry takes the Hufflepuff cup, another horcrux, but Griphook escapes with the sword. The trio escape Gringotts on the back of a dragon.
27. The dragon descends to take a drink from a lake. Harry, Ron and Hermione descend from its back and swim to shore. Harry's connection with Voldemort reveals that he knows about the cup, and that another horcrux is at Hogwarts. Harry, Ron and Hermione go to Hogsmeade.
28. Harry, Ron and Hermione narrowly escape Death Eaters who are alerted of their arrival in Hogsmeade. They are aided by Dumbledore's brother Aberforth who tried to talk them out of continuing their quest. He finally agrees to help them get into Hogwarts through a new secret passage.
29. The passage leads to the Room of Requirement where they reunite with Dumbledore's Army. After some discussion, Harry agrees to let them help. The group believe the next horcrux is Ravenclaw's lost diadem. Luna takes Harry to the Ravenclaw common room to see a copy of it on a statue. They are caught by Alecto Carrow, a Death Eater who alerts Voldemort.
30. McGonagall and Snape duel, and he flees. McGonagall takes charge and puts defences around the school with the help of other teachers. Dumbledore's Army alert the Order of the Phoenix. The battle looms.
31. Ron and Hermione have destroyed the cup horcrux using a Basalisk fang from the Chamber of Secrets. Harry recalls seeing the lost diadem of Ravenclaw in the Room of Requirement and returns to retrieve it. Ron and Hermione kiss. Crabbe, Goyle and Malfoy try to capture Harry. A battle ensues. Crabbe is killed, but Harry, Ron and Hermione rescue Malfoy and Goyle. Death eaters have breached the castle. There's a big explosion and Fred Weasley is killed.
32. Harry, Ron and Hermione head for the whomping willow, and enter the tunnel to the Shrieking Shack where Voldemort is. Voldemort realises the Elder Wand has to be taken by conquering the previous owner, and as Snape killed Dumbledore, he kills Snape. Harry sees a silvery liquid around Snape, which he takes in a vial.
33. Harry pours Snape's memories into the Penseive, and it is revealed that Snape was protecting Harry and loyal to Dumbledore, right to the end. Killing Dumbledore was part of the plan, as Dumbledore knew he was dying anyway. Harry learns a new truth: A part of Voldemort's soul resides in him, and Voldemort can't truly die unless Harry does too.
34. Harry opens the snitch he received from Dumbledore and discovers the Resurrection Stone - one of the Deathly Hallows. He heads to the forest to confront Voldemort. Voldemort attacks, but Harry does nothing, realising he has to die. He sees a flash of green light.
35. Harry wakes up, realising he may not be dead after all. He sees Dumbledore, and finds himself in a place that resembles King's Cross, only cleaner, and without any people. A creature resembling a small, whimpering child is also there - the piece of Voldemort's soul that was in Harry. Dumbledore tells Harry he can choose to return to the world, whole.
36. Harry finds himself back on the forest floor. He lets Voldemort believe he's dead. Voldemort commands all to kneel to him, but battle ensues, culminating in a duel between Harry and Voldemort after Mrs Weasley kills Bellatrix Lestrange. As Malfoy, not Snape, disarmed Dumbledore before he died, the power Voldemort expects from the Elder Wand isn't there. Because Harry conquered Malfoy by disarming him, the Elder Wand's allegiance is to Harry. As Voldemort strikes out with a death curse, it rebounds, killing him. Harry is victorious.
Nineteen Years Later
Harry has married Ginny and Ron has married Hermione. They are at Platform 9¾, sending their children to Hogwarts.
